The partners of faciliCAD have been involved in the Facility Management industry since 1987. Industry skills were developed through working for large Architectural firms and eventually each partner started their own consulting businesses. Upon building clientele, they found that most steered clear of facility management software because of the expense and complexity. As consultants, a search began for the ultimate Facility Management software package to suit the clients’ needs. It was soon realized that this ideal product did not exist. They worked with what was available to the industry, but were always in pursuit of something more cost-effective and easy to use.

Discussion about developing a new Facility Management software solution began in 1999. In 2001, the partners, joined forces to establish faciliCAD and begin design and development. Development continued at a rapid pace until November of 2001, where faciliCAD unveiled the philosophy and structure of faciliCAD. An initial version of the software was introduced to the unsuspecting public at Autodesk University in December of 2001. Though faciliCAD was a beta product at the time, it was very positively received. This urged the partners of faciliCAD to thrust ahead and complete the product to make it available to the general market. In May 2002, faciliCAD unveiled and installed faciliCAD Version 1 to the first client. faciliCAD Version 1 used Microsoft Access as it Database source. Because of the limitations of Microsoft Access in a Network environment, faciliCAD Version 2 migrated to a Mircrosoft SQL database. This and the addition of a non-graphic database entry application has moved faciliCAD from an application that was geared toward Small facilities to a Facility Management Software Solution that is used by Small and Large facilities alike.

faciliCAD’s current install base includes small facilities managing approximately 100,000 sq ft to large Fortune 500 facilities managing over 5,000,000 sq ft. The type of facilities using faciliCAD include: Office Buildings, Hospitals, Manufacturing Plants, Schools, Research Development Complexes, Power Plants and Government Agencies. Upcoming installations include: Retail, Warehousing, Property Managers, Etc…

The main goal of faciliCAD is to provide a facility management software solution that is affordable and user friendly. Since faciliCAD's first exposure to the general public, any and all new features and enhancements are a direct result of end user feedback.
